According to reports, the gunman who shot and killed William Love, Dr. Preston Phillips, Dr. Stephanie Husen, and Amanda Glenn was a patient at the hospital himself. During a news conference on Thursday, the authorities stated that the gunman killed the above-mentioned four people in a medical building on the campus of Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
The associate chief medical officer at Saint Francis and an ER physician, Dr. Ryan Parker, stated that they are supposed to be the ones that are caring for others during tragedies like this. Ryan Parker further stated that all the people died while serving others and added that they died in the line of duty. One of the killed persons in the shooting was Dr. Preston Phillips while others were others including another doctor, a patient, and a receptionist.
According to his physician profile, Dr. Preston Phillips went to Harvard Medical School in 1990 and completed his graduation there. He also did two fellowships at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston in 1986 and 1996. Reportedly, Phillips trained in Spine Surgery at BIDMC in 1996 and has remained closely engaged with the community ever since. Chief Edward K Rodriguez MD, Department of Orthopaedics at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, stated that Phillips was an exemplary surgeon who represented all that is best in Orthopedics.
The doctor was always devoted to his patients and a remarkable role model for residents and fellows. Edward said that he will be very much missed by everyone who knew and worked with him. Dr. Phillips was shot dead along with Dr. Stephanie J. Husen who specialized in sports medicine and receptionist Amanda Glenn. Besides, patient William Love was also killed by the gunman. As per reports, the gunman had purchased an AR-style rifle hours before the shooting. He intended to kill Dr. Phillips and did not kill him randomly.
